Throughout the match at Wrigley Field, both teams displayed solid performances on the field. The Padres' hitters managed to get on base multiple times, highlighted by their .257 batting average and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .297 for the game. They also showcased speed on the bases with a successful stolen base attempt maintaining a perfect steal percent rate. However, they struggled to capitalize fully on their chances with runners in scoring position (RISP), hitting .000 in these crucial moments which might have cost them dearly.

On the pitching side, the Padres' bullpen worked for 3.2 innings but faced challenges containing Cubs' hitters who managed an OBP of .353 against them and slugged over .500. The starting pitcher put up respectable numbers over 4.1 innings pitched but ultimately it was Enyel De Los Santos from the bullpen who was saddled with his second loss of the season after giving up critical runs.
