The Padres started strong with a run in the first inning, setting the tone for their offensive performance. They managed to accumulate a total of 14 hits throughout the game. Their most productive inning came in the fifth when they scored three runs off five hits, significantly widening their lead. This surge was pivotal as it put them ahead by four runs and created a gap that proved too challenging for the Reds to close.

San Diego's hitting statistics were impressive, with an overall batting average of .378 and an on-base percentage of .41. The team also showcased power with one home run and three doubles among their extra-base hits. Notably, they left only five runners on base throughout the game.

On defense, San Diego was flawless with no errors recorded and executed one double play. Their pitching staff also delivered solid performances; starters allowed only six hits while striking out nine batters over nine innings pitched. The bullpen maintained this momentum by not allowing any additional runs or walks during their time on the mound.

Cincinnati struggled offensively against San Diego's pitchers, managing just six hits and three runs across nine innings. Despite scoring early in both the first and sixth innings—where they added two more runs—their efforts fell short against San Diego’s consistent scoring pattern.

The Reds' defense had one error which contributed to San Diego’s advantage but did manage seven assists during gameplay along with catching all fly balls directed towards them without issue.

Michael King earned his fourth win of this season as he effectively shut down Cincinnati’s lineup while Nick Martinez took his third loss despite putting up a fight against formidable opponents like those from San Diego today.
