The game took place at PETCO Park, where Carlos Rodón of the Yankees delivered a standout performance. Rodón pitched effectively throughout his innings, contributing significantly to his team's victory. The Padres struggled offensively, managing only three hits over nine innings and failing to score any runs.

In contrast, the Yankees showcased their offensive strength early on. They scored one run in the first inning and followed up with a five-run burst in the third inning. This pivotal third inning saw five hits from New York's lineup, putting them firmly in control of the game.

Yu Darvish started on the mound for San Diego but had a tough outing. He allowed seven earned runs over his 5.2 innings pitched and gave up four home runs during this span. Despite striking out five batters, Darvish couldn't contain New York's hitters.

San Diego's bullpen performed better than their starter but still allowed one additional run across three innings of relief work. The bullpen managed to keep their earned run average (ERA) at 2.7 for this appearance and limited New York to just one hit during these frames.

Offensively for San Diego, there were few highlights as they struggled against both Rodón and subsequent Yankee pitchers. The team’s batting average was .107 with no extra-base hits recorded throughout the game.

Defensively, both teams played cleanly without committing any errors; however, it was clear that New York’s pitching staff had control over San Diego’s lineup from start to finish.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next Padres game against these same Yankees on May 25th at PETCO Park in San Diego starting at 1:40 PM local time (Pacific). The match will be broadcasted live on YES Network.
