From the outset, the Padres' offensive lineup was relentless. Accumulating a total of 14 hits throughout the game, they managed to drive in 13 runs. A significant part of their success came from their performance in both the second and fifth innings where they scored four runs each time, demonstrating their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities effectively. Their batting average for this game was an outstanding .368, complemented by an on-base percentage (OBP) of .457 and slugging percentage (SLG) of .737.

The Padres' hitters also excelled with runners in scoring position (RISP), converting five out of thirteen opportunities into runs. Additionally, they hit three home runs and five doubles which contributed significantly to their total bases count of 28. This offensive prowess was further highlighted by managing twelve runs batted in (RBI), showcasing their ability to bring runners home when it mattered most.

On the pitching side, the Padres demonstrated equal mastery. The starting pitcher played a crucial role by maintaining control over six innings pitched and limiting the Diamondbacks to just one run on three hits. Overall, Padres pitchers held Arizona's batters to a mere five hits over nine innings while striking out seven and walking three.

The bullpen also contributed significantly to preserving the lead established by San Diego's offense early on. Over three innings pitched by relievers, only two hits were allowed without conceding any additional runs—a testament to their efficiency and effectiveness late in the game.

Arizona's lone run came during the fifth inning when they managed three hits but struggled throughout most of this contest due largely because San Diego's pitchers kept them off balance all night long.
