On the pitching front, Dylan Cease faced challenges but managed an ERA of 8.308 across more than four innings pitched, contributing to this collective victory effort. Yuki Matsui stood out by securing an ERA of 0.0 alongside Jason Adam and Tanner Scott from the bullpen; they played crucial roles in quelling any comeback attempts by St. Louis.


Despite falling behind early on, The Cardinals showed resilience by scoring two runs off three hits in their first inning and adding three more runs during the fifth inning due to commendable offensive plays which brought them within striking distance of either tying or overtaking San Diego.
