The game commenced with the Padres asserting their dominance early on by notching two runs in the opening inning. This early momentum seemed to set the tone for what many anticipated would be a commanding performance. However, as the game unfolded across nine innings, San Diego found it increasingly challenging to leverage their opportunities into more runs. Despite accumulating ten hits throughout the game, they could only muster three runs in total. Their batting prowess was evident in their consistent ability to reach base, achieving an on-base percentage (OBP) of .333 and slugging percentage (SLG) of .444.

Luis Arraez emerged as one of San Diego's standout performers at bat with an exceptional batting average of .800 and an OBP of .8 during his appearances at plate. Manny Machado also made notable contributions with his batting average standing at .400 while maintaining flawless fielding statistics alongside teammates Mason McCoy and Jackson Merrill among others.

Joe Musgrove led San Diego's pitching efforts from the mound by clocking six innings pitched and recording an earned run average (ERA) of 4.5 along with three strikeouts. The bullpen saw Robert Suarez take to the mound facing difficulties that resulted in him posting an ERA of 13.5 during his stint.

The tide turned for St Louis in the fourth inning when they managed to score three runs which played a pivotal role in securing their victory over San Diego despite committing one error defensively throughout the game.
