First Inning

The game began with an early surge from the Athletics, who scored 2 runs on just one hit. The Padres struggled to respond initially, going hitless in their first inning. This set the tone for a challenging start for San Diego.

Second Inning

Oakland continued their offensive push in the second inning by adding another pair of runs through three hits. Meanwhile, San Diego's bats remained silent as they failed to register any hits or runs during this period.

Third Inning

In what was arguably one of the key moments of Padres vs Athletics key moments, Oakland extended their lead further by scoring three more runs on four hits. This left San Diego trailing significantly as they entered into deeper innings without much offensive production.

Fifth Inning

San Diego finally broke through in the fifth inning when Mason McCoy managed to drive home a run amidst two hits for his team. However, this effort was not enough to close down Oakland’s substantial lead.

Ninth Inning

In an attempt to rally late in the game during post-game report Padres analysis showed that despite scoring another run thanks largely due Freddy Fermin's efforts behind plate; it wasn’t sufficient against well-disciplined pitching from A’s bullpen which effectively sealed victory over Friars with final tally standing at seven-two favoring visitors from California Bay Area region!

Despite some bright spots like McCoy’s performance and solid relief work by bullpen allowing only one earned run across six innings pitched - questions remain about what went wrong for Padres especially concerning starting rotation giving up multiple early scores leading ultimately towards defeat here today!
