Can Rangers' Pitching Hold Off Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field?

As the Texas Rangers prepare to host the Arizona Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field on May 29, fans are eagerly anticipating a showdown that could be pivotal for both teams. The Rangers have shown flashes of brilliance this season but have struggled with consistency, particularly in their pitching and hitting departments.

In their recent games, the Rangers' pitching has been a mixed bag. On May 21 against the Philadelphia Phillies, Texas allowed 5 runs on 8 hits. The bullpen's ERA was a concerning 9.0 over just three innings of work. This inconsistency was also evident in their game against the Los Angeles Angels on May 19, where they conceded four runs despite having a relatively strong start from their pitchers who posted an ERA of just under three.

The key issue for TEX has been maintaining control and limiting walks. In these past games, they issued too many free passes which often came back to haunt them. Their WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) stood at an alarming rate above one in most outings, indicating that they are allowing too many base runners.

On the offensive side, TEX has had its share of struggles as well. Against PHI on May 21 and LAA on May 19 and May 18 respectively, TEX managed only two runs or fewer in each game despite getting multiple runners on base frequently (LOB: left-on-base). Their batting average hovered around .200 in these matchups which is far below what is needed to consistently win games.

However, there are some bright spots for TEX heading into this matchup against AZ. The team’s fielding has been solid with minimal errors recorded over recent games – an essential factor when facing a team like AZ that can capitalize quickly on defensive lapses.

AZ comes into this game with momentum after several strong performances recently including wins where they showcased both power hitting and effective pitching strategies – something that will test every aspect of TEX’s gameplay come Wednesday night.

For TEX to secure victory against AZ at Globe Life Field:

1) They must tighten up their bullpen performance significantly.

2) Improve situational hitting especially with runners-in-scoring-position (RISP).

3) Continue playing error-free defense while capitalizing more effectively when given scoring opportunities by opponents’ mistakes or misplays.

4) Limit walks issued by pitchers as much as possible since giving away bases cheaply could prove costly especially if facing top hitters from opposing line-up who thrive under pressure situations late into ballgames!
