In an impressive offensive display, the Rays tallied 11 hits throughout the game. The second inning proved pivotal for Tampa Bay as they capitalized on four hits to bring in three runs, setting an early tone for their dominance at the plate. The sixth inning mirrored this success with another three runs batted in off three hits, showcasing the Rays' ability to cluster their offense effectively.

The hitting statistics were particularly noteworthy for Tampa Bay; they achieved a batting average of .324 and an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of .883. Extra-base hits played a significant role with four contributing to their slugging percentage of .559. Clutch hitting was also on display as they managed three hits from nine at-bats with runners in scoring position and drove in six runs with two outs.

Their pitchers held up against Detroit's lineup as well, striking out ten batters while maintaining a walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) ratio of just over one.

Detroit's performance was highlighted by two innings where they scored two runs each – the fifth and sixth – but it wasn't enough to overcome Tampa Bay's lead. They managed seven hits and five runs overall but couldn't capitalize when it mattered most.
