The game began with an explosive start as the Rays notched two runs and four hits in the first inning alone, setting a strong pace. Despite a quiet second through sixth inning on both sides, Tampa Bay's offense reignited in the seventh inning with three additional runs bolstered by two hits. A final run in the ninth inning sealed their victory.

Tampa Bay's hitters showed remarkable discipline and power throughout the game. The team achieved an impressive .343 batting average and an on-base percentage of .385, alongside slugging .514 for an overall OPS of .899. Notably, Brandon Lowe's performance stood out as he hit a home run contributing to his OPS of 1.6 and batting average of .400.

On the pitching side, Shane Baz started for Tampa Bay but encountered challenges, ending with an ERA of 8.308 across more than four innings pitched. However, relief pitchers like Colin Poche showcased exceptional skill with an ERA of 0 and striking out batters at a rate of 18 per nine innings pitched.

The St. Louis Cardinals fought valiantly but were unable to overcome Tampa Bay's lead despite scoring three runs in their first at-bat and adding another run in the third inning. Their efforts were highlighted by managing nine hits throughout the game but ultimately fell short due to Tampa Bay’s strategic plays both offensively and defensively.
