In an impressive display of offense and defense, the Red Sox managed to secure a victory over the Pirates at PNC Park. The game saw Boston's hitters accumulate eight hits and six runs while maintaining a clean sheet with zero errors. Their scoring was particularly effective in the third and fifth innings, where they put up two runs in each, followed by single-run efforts in both the sixth and eighth innings.

Boston's pitching staff was equally dominant on the mound. The bullpen contributed significantly with five and two-thirds innings pitched without allowing any runs, striking out four batters along the way. They maintained an ERA of 0.0 for this game while holding an impressive WHIP of just under 0.8824.

Justin Slaten earned his first win of the season thanks to his role as a starter pitcher for Boston, contributing three and one-third innings with one earned run against him which came from seven hits allowed by Pittsburgh throughout nine innings.

On offense for Boston, their hitting statistics showed resilience with a batting average of .229 and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .372 across forty-five plate appearances (PA). They also showcased speed on bases with two stolen bases out of two attempts – a perfect steal percentage.

The Pirates' efforts were hindered by defensive missteps that led to two errors over nine innings which undoubtedly affected their chances despite collecting seven hits themselves. Their lone run came early in the first inning but failed to spark further scoring as they struggled against Boston's tight pitching rotation.

Looking ahead, fans can catch more action from their beloved Red Sox as they continue their series away from home. The next game is scheduled at Progressive Field against Cleveland Guardians on April 23rd at 6:10 PM local time (ET). This matchup will be broadcasted live on NESN for fans looking to follow every pitch.
