The Reds wasted no time in making their mark, scoring 1 run in the first inning and adding another 2 runs in the second inning. The team managed a total of 5 hits throughout the game and took advantage of two errors committed by the Cardinals during that critical second inning.

Nick Lodolo was instrumental for Cincinnati, earning his fourth win of the season. He pitched effectively through five innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out three batters. The bullpen maintained this momentum with Fernando Cruz and Sam Moll each securing holds before Lucas Sims closed out the game with his first save of the season.

Offensively, Cincinnati's hitting statistics showcased a balanced approach despite limited opportunities. They had an overall batting average of .179 but managed to draw six walks against St. Louis pitching. Their lone home run came from an unexpected source as they continued to find ways to manufacture runs even without consistent power hitting.

On defense, Cincinnati was flawless with zero errors recorded and solid fielding performances across all positions. This defensive stability played a crucial role in maintaining their lead throughout nine innings.

For St. Louis, Lance Lynn took his third loss of the season despite putting up a strong fight on the mound for six innings where he allowed three earned runs on five hits while striking out six batters without issuing any walks.

The Cardinals' offense struggled against Cincinnati’s pitching staff managing only five hits and one run which came in their opening frame thanks to timely hitting but failed to capitalize further as they left seven runners stranded on base by game's end.

Looking ahead, fans can catch Cincinnati's next matchup against these same St. Louis Cardinals scheduled for May 28th at Great American Ball Park starting at 6:40 PM local time (10:40 PM UTC). The game will be broadcasted live on BSOH network providing another opportunity for fans to support their team as they aim for back-to-back victories over their division rivals.
