The game began with both teams showing strong offensive efforts. In the first inning, the Phillies managed to get on the board with 1 run from their 2 hits. The Rockies responded immediately, scoring a run of their own from a single hit. By the end of the second inning, Colorado had taken a slight edge by adding another run to make it 2-1 in favor of the home team.

Innings three and five saw both teams adding runs to their tally. The Rockies scored another run in each of these innings, bringing their total to four runs by mid-game. Philadelphia managed only one additional run during this period, keeping them within striking distance at 4-2.

The middle innings were relatively quiet as both teams' pitchers found their rhythm. Neither team scored in innings six through eight despite several opportunities and base runners left on base.

However, it was in the ninth inning that everything changed dramatically for both sides. The Phillies exploded offensively with six hits leading to six runs against Colorado's bullpen which struggled significantly under pressure. This late surge turned what seemed like a close contest into an insurmountable lead for Philadelphia.

Despite having nine hits throughout nine innings and leaving seven runners stranded on base overall – including four during crucial moments –the Rockies couldn't capitalize when needed most especially during those final moments where they failed defensively allowing multiple scoring opportunities for opponents resulting ultimately losing out big time right before fans eyes who attended match held at Coors Field located Denver city state CO USA zip code being80205 capacity50144 surface grass orientation N stadium type outdoor field orientation N
