Can Royals' Early Lead Weather the Cubs' Storm at Kauffman Stadium?

However, their efforts were overshadowed by a resilient Chicago team that amassed twelve hits and capitalized on every opportunity to score seven runs without committing any errors.


Key performances for the Royals included Vinnie Pasquantino and Maikel Garcia both batting .333. Freddy Fermin contributed with an average of .250 including one run from his four at-bats. Hunter Renfroe drove in two RBIs despite batting .250 for the day. The Chicago Cubs found their stride mid-game with significant scoring in both the third and sixth innings before sealing their victory with three more runs in the ninth inning. Their offensive effort was matched by solid defense keeping errors at bay throughout all nine innings.
