In the first inning, the Tigers came out swinging with three hits that resulted in two runs. This early offensive burst set the tone for Detroit's performance. The team accumulated eight hits overall and committed one error during the game.

Detroit's pitching staff was instrumental in securing this win. Starter Reese Olson pitched effectively, allowing only six hits and no earned runs over his innings of work. Olson was credited with his first win of the season. Relievers Jason Foley and Alex Faedo each contributed holds, while Tyler Holton closed out the game to earn his first save.

The Blue Jays struggled offensively against Detroit's pitchers but managed to score one run in the seventh inning off a single hit combined with an error by Detroit’s defense. Despite their efforts, Toronto could not overcome their deficit from earlier innings.

Toronto’s starting pitcher José Berríos took his fourth loss of the season despite a solid performance where he allowed only two runs on eight hits across nine innings pitched.

Detroit’s hitters showed discipline at bat but failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities later in the game as they left seven runners on base and had no stolen bases during this matchup.

Defensively, both teams were relatively clean aside from one error each. The Tigers turned one double play while recording 14 assists and 27 putouts overall.

Looking ahead, fans can catch Detroit back in action against Toronto again on May 26th at Comerica Park with a scheduled start time of 3:35 PM Eastern Time. The game will be broadcasted live on Roku for those unable to attend in person.
