The Tigers showcased their offensive capabilities early on, marking their presence with one run in the first inning followed by a significant surge in the fourth and fifth innings where they scored three runs each. This performance was underpinned by an impressive display from Justyn-Henry Malloy who boasted an average of .667 and contributed two RBIs. Andy Ibáñez also made notable contributions with an average of .500 and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .600.

On the mound for the Tigers was Casey Mize who delivered a commendable performance by maintaining an ERA of 0.0 across his outing and securing another win for his record. His efforts were complemented by Tyler Holton from the bullpen who managed to keep his ERA at 0.0 while striking out batters at a rate of 27 per nine innings pitched.

Despite these standout performances, not all was smooth sailing for Detroit as Shelby Miller experienced difficulties, ending up with an ERA of 67.5 after his time on the mound.

The Angels attempted to mount a comeback in the ninth inning by scoring five runs but ultimately fell short. Their effort was highlighted by six hits allowed and six earned runs conceded by Detroit's bullpen over just 3.2 innings pitched.
