The game unfolded with both teams locked in a defensive battle through the initial innings, neither side able to break through until the fourth inning when the Tigers unleashed their offensive capabilities. With seven hits throughout the game, it was this pivotal inning that saw them notch three runs off three hits, setting up what would be their path to victory. Notably, two of these runs came from home runs, underscoring Detroit's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities when they arose.

Pitching played a crucial role for both teams. The Tigers' pitchers combined for an impressive display on the mound, striking out nine batters over nine innings while maintaining an ERA of 4.0 and limiting Toronto's batting average to .206. Jack Flaherty stood out among Detroit's pitchers with an ERA of 3.176 across 5.2 innings pitched and striking out eight batters, showcasing his critical contribution to keeping Toronto's hitters at bay.

On offense, Mark Canha and Wenceel Pérez delivered standout performances for Detroit. Canha hit .333 including a home run and contributed two RBIs with an OBP of .500., highlighting his pivotal role in driving in crucial runs for his team. Similarly, Pérez matched this impact by also hitting .500 with one home run and two RBIs.

Despite facing stiff competition from Toronto who managed seven hits themselves and rallied late in the game by scoring two runs in the eighth inning to narrow Detroit's lead significantly; it was not enough as Tiger’s bullpen held strong against late-game pressure.
