The Detroit Tigers improved their season record to 50-51 after an impressive 8-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, who now stand at 59-40. The game, held at Progressive Field in Cleveland, showcased the Tigers' offensive might with a total of 12 hits leading to their eight runs, all while committing no errors on the field.

From the outset, the Tigers set a commanding pace with two runs in the first inning followed by another two in the second. Although their scoring paused for three innings thereafter, they picked up momentum again in the sixth with two more runs and capped off their performance with one run each in both the eighth and ninth innings. The Guardians managed to put up a single run in both the second and final innings but were largely stifled by Detroit's pitching staff.

Tarik Skubal's start for Detroit was noteworthy as he pitched seven strong innings with an earned run average (ERA) of just 1.286 and striking out batters at a rate of 7.713 per nine innings. His performance was instrumental in keeping Cleveland's hitters at bay for much of the game.

Offensively, Mark Canha stood out by hitting an impressive .750 average for this game along with maintaining a perfect fielding percentage (FPCT). Colt Keith also made significant contributions with his bat by hitting a home run that helped solidify Detroit's lead while batting .250.

On defense, Javier Báez and Gio Urshela were flawless on infield plays contributing to Detroit’s error-free game which complemented their pitchers' efforts effectively.

The bullpen had mixed results; Andrew Chafin and Shelby Miller delivered scoreless outings whereas Easton Lucas struggled allowing one earned run which slightly marred an otherwise stellar team performance on both sides of play.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next game between these two teams scheduled on July 23rd at Progressive Field where they will once again witness this riveting matchup unfold. The broadcast will be available on BSDET network starting from 6:40 PM EDT for those eager to follow every pitch and hit of this ongoing series.
