From a pitching perspective for Detroit, Tyler Holton claimed victory in this match-up through a flawless display that saw him maintain an earned run average of zero while striking out opponents at an exceptional rate without yielding any walks or hits across his innings pitched. Jason Foley equally played a pivotal role in stifling Seattle's offense by also maintaining an earned run average of zero while accumulating strikeouts without allowing walks or hits.


Despite facing formidable pitching from Detroit, Seattle managed to keep themselves competitive by scoring once each during both fifth and eighth innings through persistent efforts at bat which culminated in five hits over ten innings.
