Tigers' Lone Roar Silenced by Cubs' Home Run Barrage at Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers faced off against the Chicago Cubs in a day game at Comerica Park, drawing an impressive crowd of 41,034 fans. Despite their best efforts, the Tigers fell to the Cubs with a final score of 6-1. This result brought the Tigers' record to 42-24 while the Cubs improved to 40-24.

First Inning


The game began with both teams showing strong defensive plays. The Cubs managed to score early in the first inning with a home run that set the tone for their offensive strategy throughout the game. The Motor City Kitties responded defensively but struggled offensively as they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.


Fifth Inning


By the fifth inning, both teams had settled into a rhythm. The Tigs managed to put one run on the board thanks to a triple by Parker Meadows followed by an RBI single from Javier Báez. However, this was not enough as Chicago's pitching staff kept Detroit's hitters largely in check.

Seventh Inning


The seventh inning saw another surge from Chicago as they added two more runs through strategic hitting and capitalizing on Detroit's pitching errors. The Cubbies demonstrated patience and precision at bat which allowed them to extend their lead further.


Eighth Inning


In what would be one of their last chances for a comeback, Detroit tried rallying back during this period but could not break through Chicago’s defense effectively enough despite several hits that landed runners on base.
