Yankees Shut Out by Orioles, New York's Bats Silenced in Baltimore
The New York Yankees, with a record of 19-11, were unable to score against the Baltimore Orioles who improved their record to 18-10. The final score read 2-0 in favor of the home team at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
In a game where hits were hard to come by for both sides, the Yankees managed seven hits but failed to convert any into runs. Despite getting on base multiple times throughout the game, including having runners in scoring position on eight occasions, they could not capitalize as evidenced by their zero runs batted in and ten left on base. The only extra-base hit came from a double, contributing to their slugging percentage of .235 and an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of .505.
The pitching staff for the Yankees had a mixed performance. Their bullpen showed strength with an earned run average (ERA) of 0.0 over 2.1 innings pitched and allowed only one hit during that span. However, it was not enough as the starting pitcher took the loss after giving up one earned run over 5.2 innings with an ERA of 1.588.
Defensively, New York committed one error which did contribute to one unearned run for Baltimore. They also turned no double plays and recorded seven assists throughout nine innings.
On the other side, Baltimore's pitchers held strong against New York's lineup with Grayson Rodriguez earning his fourth win of the season thanks to his six strikeouts over five-plus innings while maintaining an ERA just above one point one two five for this game.
The next scheduled game will see these two teams face off again at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on April 30th at 6:35 PM Eastern Time Zone. Fans can catch all the action live as it will be broadcasted on YES Network.
