First Inning

The game kicked off with an early lead for the Yankees as they managed to score 1 run on 2 hits. The Bronx Bombers capitalized on their offensive momentum, with Aaron Judge contributing significantly by getting on base and setting up scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, the Rox responded in kind during their turn at bat, matching the Yanks' effort by scoring 2 runs off of two hits.

Second Inning

The second inning saw both teams maintaining pressure. The Yanks added another run to their tally thanks to strategic hitting and effective base running. With Trent Grisham making his presence felt in center field, New York's defense held strong against Colorado's attempts to close the gap.

Fifth Inning

A pivotal moment came in the fifth inning when New York widened their lead by adding two more runs from two hits. This surge was crucial as it provided them a cushion against any potential comeback from Colorado. Paul Goldschmidt's consistent performance at first base was instrumental during this period.

Sixth and Eighth Innings

Colorado made efforts to bridge the gap in subsequent innings but only managed one run each in both sixth and ninth innings respectively. Despite these efforts, they were unable to overcome New York’s lead established earlier in playtime due largely due solid pitching performances from Mark Leiter who maintained control throughout his relief appearance keeping opponents’ batting average low (.229).
