In their last game against the Sacramento Kings, despite a strong start where they led by as much as 23 points and dominated for over 42 minutes of playtime, the Hawks fell short with a final score of 110-117. Their shooting was less efficient than usual; they made only 39 percent from the field compared to their opponents' more effective 52 percent. However, one positive takeaway was their free throw accuracy at an impressive 84 percent.

Prior to that game, when visiting Chicago Bulls territory, Atlanta put up a fight but again came up short with a scoreline of 113-118. They showed strength in second-chance points and maintained an admirable free throw percentage of 86 but were ultimately let down by turnovers and defensive lapses.

Against the Memphis Grizzlies at home before heading to Chicago, it was another close encounter where Atlanta scored high in paint points but were outdone in fast break situations and overall efficiency by Memphis who took the win with a six-point margin (119-125).

The upcoming match on December 31st is crucial for Atlanta Hawks as they aim to improve upon their record and climb back into contention. With both teams sharing similar time zones and playing conditions at Capital One Arena not posing any significant advantage or disadvantage for either side, it's all about which team can execute better on court.

Fans can catch this end-of-year showdown live on MNMT network channel 642 or BSSE channel 649 at local Eastern Time. The battle between these two determined teams promises excitement and is sure not to disappoint those looking forward to some high-quality basketball action before ringing in the New Year.
