Looking back at the December 24 game against the Memphis Grizzlies, despite a narrow loss of 125-119, there were flashes of brilliance from ATL. They led for over half the game and showcased an impressive offensive rating of 115.76. Their efficiency game score stood at 98, just shy of Memphis's 109, indicating that they were competitive throughout. The Hawks also excelled in free throw accuracy with an 80 percent completion rate and demonstrated strong two-point shooting by hitting 60 percent from inside the arc.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing; ATL struggled beyond the three-point line with only a 30 percent success rate and had less possession time than Memphis. To secure victory against Chicago Bulls, it's crucial that they capitalize on their scoring opportunities more effectively and maintain control of the ball.

The December 23 away game against Miami Heat further highlighted areas for improvement as ATL fell short with a scoreline of 122-113. Despite outscoring Miami in bench points (35-41) and maintaining a higher assist-turnover ratio (2.23), defensive lapses proved costly as they allowed Miami an effective field goal percentage of 56.

The silver lining came three days earlier when ATL triumphed over Houston Rockets with an exhilarating performance that ended in a high-scoring affair at Toyota Center – Atlanta prevailing by seven points (134-127). That night saw them lead for most of the match thanks to their highest efficiency game score yet (116.7) coupled with remarkable shooting accuracy – achieving an effective field goal percentage of 61.
