The Hawks opened strong with an impressive first quarter, outscoring the Mavericks by putting up 31 points to their 25. However, momentum shifted as the second quarter saw the Mavericks rally to score a substantial 40 points compared to Atlanta's 26. The third quarter remained competitive with Atlanta scoring 24 points but still trailing behind Dallas' consistent performance which added another 28 points to their tally. The final period proved challenging for the Hawks as they managed only 14 points against Dallas' defense while conceding another 16.

Atlanta's offense was led by their field goal efforts with an overall shooting percentage of just under half at forty percent from both two and three-point range. They made thirteen successful shots beyond the arc out of thirty-eight attempts and were able to convert twenty-one out of forty-seven two-point attempts. Free throw accuracy was less effective for Atlanta; they hit fourteen out of twenty-one free throws, rounding off a sixty-seven percent success rate from the line.

On defense, however, it was a tough night for Atlanta who recorded only two blocks throughout the game and managed seven steals which mirrored that of their opponents'. Rebounding was one area where they excelled; pulling down sixty-one rebounds in total – eleven offensive and fifty defensive boards – showcasing their ability to control both ends of the glass.

Despite these efforts, turnovers were costly for Atlanta as they gave up possession twenty-one times which translated into seven points for Dallas off those turnovers. In contrast, Dallas capitalized on fourteen turnovers from Atlanta converting them into fifteen crucial points.
