The Celtics started strong, outscoring the Nuggets 32-31 in the first quarter and maintaining their lead with a second-quarter performance that saw them add another 29 points to their tally. However, momentum shifted as Denver clawed back with 26 points in the third quarter while holding Boston to just 21. The final period proved decisive as Denver secured victory by adding another 21 points against Boston's 18.

Boston's offensive efforts were led by their ability to convert from beyond the arc, making an impressive total of 14 three-pointers on a shooting percentage of about 32 percent from downtown. Despite this effort from long range and scoring more fast break points (13) than Denver (4), it wasn't enough to secure victory.

On defense, Boston managed five steals and blocked two shots but was outrebounded by Denver who grabbed an imposing total of 53 rebounds compared to Boston's more modest count of 44. The rebounding disparity was particularly evident on the defensive glass where Denver collected nearly twice as many rebounds as Boston.

Denver showcased efficient shooting throughout the game with an overall field goal percentage of approximately 52 percent which included converting two-thirds of their two-point attempts. Their proficiency inside was also reflected in scoring more points in paint (36) than Boston (40), despite both teams having similar attempts close to basket.

One area where both teams showed parity was turnovers; each squad maintained discipline with minimal giveaways - three for Boston and eleven for Denver. This careful ball handling contributed to an intense matchup that saw eight ties and thirteen lead changes over four quarters.

Looking ahead for fans eager to follow their team’s next outing: The Celtics will be playing away against Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on January 21st at around six o'clock local time.
