Charlotte Hornets Edge Out Washington Wizards at Spectrum Center in Close Encounter

In a closely contested game at the Spectrum Center, the Charlotte Hornets improved their season record to 5-9 after a hard-fought victory over the Washington Wizards, who now stand at 2-12. The final score read 117-114 in favor of the home team.

The Charlotte Hornets displayed resilience and skill on their home court. With an impressive field goal percentage of 47, they managed to sink 43 out of 91 attempts. Their prowess from beyond the arc was notable as well; they converted 16 out of 37 three-point attempts, translating to a commendable three-point shooting percentage of 43. The team's free throw performance was solid with a success rate of approximately 71 percent.


The Hornets' defensive efforts were equally commendable as they blocked four shots and made six steals throughout the game. They drew more fouls than their opponents, resulting in them having two remaining timeouts by the end of the match. The team's efficiency rating stood at an impressive figure of approximately137, slightly higher than that of their opponents.


On offense, Charlotte showed balanced teamwork with a total of 27 assists contributing to their overall score. They also capitalized on second-chance points scoring approximately17 off twelve opportunities and maintained strong control in the paint with around52 points scored inside.


Despite committing more turnovers (13) than Washington (10), Charlotte managed to maintain composure and secured crucial points off turnovers totaling14 compared to17 by Washington.


The Wizards put up a formidable fight against Charlotte with an efficiency rating close to124 and led for nearly32 minutes during which they achieved their biggest lead at19 points. Their field goal percentage was lower than that of Charlotte's at around45 percent but still significant enough to keep them within striking distance until the final buzzer sounded.


Washington excelled in fast break situations scoring18 fast break points from ten attempts which is about70 percent successful execution rate for such plays. They also dominated inside with60 points coming from paint plays while showing strength on rebounds pulling down55 boards along with11 offensive rebounds similar to that achieved by Charlotte.
