The Hornets opened with an impressive first quarter, racking up 36 points but still found themselves trailing as the Pelicans put up an even more remarkable 43 points. Despite this early setback, Charlotte showed resilience throughout the game. The team's offensive efforts were led by a balanced attack that saw them convert on 42 percent of their three-point attempts and make 19 from beyond the arc. They also managed to maintain an efficient free throw percentage at around 83 percent.

Charlotte's defense struggled to contain New Orleans' potent offense which was firing on all cylinders; however, they did manage to block eight shots over the course of the game. The team also demonstrated strong ball movement with a total of 29 assists and kept turnovers relatively low at fourteen.

Key contributors for Charlotte included players who came off the bench to add a combined total of 22 points, helping keep their side competitive. In terms of rebounding, they grabbed a commendable total of 47 boards – fifteen being on the offensive glass – which contributed to seventeen second-chance points.

Despite these efforts, it was clear that maintaining possession was challenging for Charlotte as they trailed in time leading significantly and had fewer fast break opportunities compared to their opponents. Moreover, while they fought hard in paint scoring thirty-eight points there, it wasn't enough against New Orleans' robust scoring strategy.

On defense, there were struggles as well; allowing New Orleans an effective field goal percentage of approximately fifty-four percent indicated room for improvement in defensive matchups and rotations for future games.

Looking ahead after this tough outing on foreign hardwoods, fans can mark their calendars for when "the" Charlotte Hornets will return home to face "the" San Antonio Spurs at Spectrum Center located in Charlotte NC USA (zip:28202). This upcoming contest is scheduled for January nineteenth at six o'clock PM Eastern Time and will be broadcasted locally on BSSE channel six hundred forty-nine ensuring fans won't miss any live action from Spectrum Center's court.
