The Hornets started off matching their opponents with each scoring 23 points in the first quarter. However, as the game progressed, they found themselves trailing; by halftime, they had been outscored by eight points. The third quarter did not bring much respite for Charlotte as they managed only 21 points against Detroit's robust offense which added another 33 points to their tally.

They shot at a modest rate from beyond the arc with a three-point percentage of 32 and made half of their attempts from within the paint. Free throw accuracy stood at an average rate of 70 percent while field goal percentage was lower than desired at just under two-fifths successful shots.
