Charlotte Hornets Stung by Hawks Despite High-Flying Effort in Atlanta

In a closely contested battle at State Farm Arena, the Charlotte Hornets fell to the Atlanta Hawks with a final score of 120-125. The Hornets, now standing at 1-2 for the season, showcased a spirited performance against the Hawks who improved their record to 3-0. Despite an explosive second quarter where the Hornets scored 42 points, it wasn't enough to secure victory over their hosts.

Hornets' Highlights


The game was marked by standout performances from several Hornets players. LaMelo Ball led the charge with an impressive 34 points, complemented by four assists and five rebounds. His shooting from beyond the arc was particularly noteworthy, hitting 64 percent of his three-point attempts. Miles Bridges also shone brightly with 27 points on an efficient shooting night that included a perfect free throw percentage and a solid contribution from two-point range.


Nick Richards made his presence felt under both baskets with a double-double consisting of 12 points and an imposing 13 rebounds, alongside contributing defensively with one block. Grant Williams facilitated playmaking duties admirably by dishing out six assists while adding nine points to his name.


Opposition Overview


On the other side of the court, the Hawks demonstrated why they are considered one of the formidable teams this season. Their balanced attack saw them outrebounding and outblocking the Hornets which played a crucial role in their win. The home team's defensive efforts were highlighted by nine blocks and eleven steals leading to critical turnovers which they capitalized on efficiently.


The Hawks' ability to maintain consistent scoring across all quarters coupled with their higher field goal percentage (48 percent) compared to that of Charlotte (38 percent) underscored their offensive efficiency throughout this encounter.
