Hornets Stung by Knicks in High-Scoring Affair at Madison Square Garden
In a recent face-off at Madison Square Garden, the Charlotte Hornets fell to the New York Knicks with a final score of 101-125. The Hornets now stand at 6-16 for the season, while the Knicks improved their record to 14-8. Despite a strong start, Charlotte couldn't maintain their momentum, leading to their defeat in New York City.
Charlotte's Effort Not Enough
The Hornets showcased a spirited performance in the first half, opening with an impressive 32 points in the first quarter and adding another 30 in the second. However, their offense dwindled in the third quarter, managing only 16 points which allowed the Knicks to pull away significantly. The fourth quarter saw a slight resurgence from Charlotte with 23 points but it was not enough to close down on New York's lead.
Key players for Charlotte included Brandon Miller who led his team with an outstanding performance of 26 points and six rebounds. Vasilije Micic also made significant contributions with his double-double of 14 points and an impressive twelve assists. Seth Curry added another layer of offense with his efficient shooting that resulted in eighteen points.
Knicks Dominate With Balanced Attack
On the opposing side, The New York Knicks demonstrated why they are one of the formidable teams this season by maintaining consistent pressure throughout all quarters. Their balanced attack was evident as they scored over thirty points in three out of four quarters including a game-high thirty-eight points during third-quarter action which effectively sealed their victory.
The Knicks capitalized on fast break opportunities scoring twenty-two fast break points compared to seven by Charlotte and dominated inside painting forty against thirty-six by Hornets. Their defensive efforts were equally commendable as they managed seven steals and limited turnovers to nine compared to eleven by Charlotte.
