Hornets' Effort Falls Short Against Pelicans in a Close Encounter

The Charlotte Hornets, with a record of 18-56, faced off against the New Orleans Pelicans, who held a record of 21-54, in what turned out to be a closely contested game. Despite their efforts, the Hornets fell short with a final score of 94-98 at the Smoothie King Center.

Key Performances on the Court


The Hornets showcased resilience throughout the game. Nick Smith Jr. emerged as the top scorer for Charlotte with 19 points, demonstrating his shooting capabilities by hitting 60 percent from beyond the arc and maintaining a perfect free throw percentage. Jusuf Nurkic also made significant contributions with 13 points and led on rebounds with 12, alongside blocking three shots which underscored his defensive prowess.


Miles Bridges added to Charlotte's offensive efforts by scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds. His performance was highlighted by an impressive two-point shooting accuracy of 60 percent. On defense, Wendell Moore Jr.'s presence was felt as he recorded three steals and contributed eight points.

Pelicans' Counterattack


The New Orleans Pelicans managed to secure their victory through strategic plays and key performances from their roster. Their ability to capitalize on fast break opportunities resulted in them scoring 18 fast break points compared to Charlotte's 16. The Pelicans also had an edge in total rebounds (62) over the Hornets (58), which played a crucial role in their win.


Despite trailing behind at various moments during the match, New Orleans demonstrated tenacity by leading for over ten minutes and securing a five-point lead at one stage—their biggest lead of the game.
