Rockies at loanDepot park: Did Ezequiel Tovar’s homer swing momentum before the Marlins’ late answer?

The Colorado Rockies left loanDepot park at 0-2 after a 4-3 result against the Miami Marlins, and the Marlins moved to 2-0 after the Saturday game that began at 4:10 PM EDT.

First inning


The Rockies and the Marlins opened with scoreless frames as both offenses went quiet in the 1st inning.


Second inning


The Rox struck first in the 2nd inning with 1 run on 1 hit, setting an early edge in this Rockies vs Marlins recap.

Third inning


The Marlins responded in the 3rd inning with 1 run on 2 hits, and Colorado’s starter Michael Lorenzen carried an 8.308 strikeouts per 9 innings rate from his previous outing into this start.


Fourth inning


The Blake Street Bombers pushed ahead in the 4th inning by scoring 2 runs on 2 hits, and Ezequiel Tovar’s 1 home run in his prior game underscored the power that helped fuel Colorado’s scoring.

Fifth inning


The Fish Tank seized the lead in the 5th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits, while Colorado committed its lone throwing error in the same inning as part of 1 team error.


Sixth inning


The Rockies posted a scoreless 6th inning at the plate, and the Marlins also went without a run in the 6th.


Seventh inning


Colorado’s offense came up empty again in the 7th inning, and Miami also stayed off the board in the 7th as the game remained tight.


Eighth inning


The Marlins added 1 run on 2 hits in the 8th inning, and the Rockies finished with 6 hits and 8 left on base as game-changing plays Rockies vs Marlins turned on limited chances.


Ninth inning


The Rockies went scoreless in the 9th inning as Miami closed out the 4-3 win, and the Marlins ended with 10 hits and 1 error while Colorado finished with 1 error and 2 stolen bases for the night.
