Cavaliers Edge Pacers in a Close Encounter at Gainbridge Fieldhouse

The Cleveland Cavaliers, with a record of 43-25, narrowly defeated the Indiana Pacers, who now stand at 38-31, in a tightly contested game that ended with a score of 108-103. The Cavaliers managed to secure the victory despite being outscored in the first quarter.

The Cavaliers showcased their resilience by bouncing back after trailing early on. They put up an impressive performance in the third quarter by scoring 36 points, which was pivotal to their comeback. The team's efficiency rating for the game stood at 125 compared to the Pacers' 111. This efficiency was reflected in their field goal percentage of 48 percent and three-point shooting at 38 percent.


Cleveland's defensive efforts were also notable as they recorded four blocks and eight steals during the game. Their ability to draw fouls was evident as they went to the free-throw line for a total of 28 attempts, making 20 of those shots for a free throw percentage of about 71 percent.

One key factor contributing to Cleveland's win was their bench performance; bench players contributed significantly with a total of 27 points. Additionally, controlling rebounds played an essential role; Cleveland outrebounded Indiana with a total rebound count of 51 against Indiana's tally of 54.


On offense, Cleveland capitalized on turnovers by scoring fifteen points off them and dominated inside with forty-four points in paint. Despite committing fourteen turnovers themselves, they maintained composure and led for nearly twenty-six minutes throughout the contest.

The Pacers did not go down without putting up strong resistance; they led by as much as fifteen points during one stretch and had better success on fast breaks than Cleveland did—scoring eighteen fast break points at an impressive rate of sixty-seven percent from such opportunities.
