Mavericks Overcome Wizards in a Close Encounter at American Airlines Center

The Dallas Mavericks, with a season record of 31-23, hosted the Washington Wizards, who came into the game with a 9-44 record. In an intense matchup at the American Airlines Center, the Mavericks emerged victorious with a final score of 112-104.

From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, fans were treated to an engaging contest between two determined teams. The home team displayed resilience and tactical acumen throughout each quarter. The Mavericks' offense was firing on all cylinders as they managed to sink 43 field goals out of their 96 attempts for a solid shooting percentage of 45 percent from the field. Their prowess from beyond the arc was modest but effective; they hit nine out of their 36 three-point attempts.


Defensively, Dallas was just as impressive. They racked up an impressive total of twelve blocks and seven steals over four quarters. This defensive effort contributed significantly to their plus-eight in points scored versus points allowed during playtime.

The rebounding battle was fiercely contested; however, it was Dallas that edged out Washington by securing 64 rebounds compared to Washington's tally of 66. Of those rebounds for Dallas, twelve were on the offensive glass which helped them generate second-chance opportunities leading to twelve additional points.


Turnovers were kept in check by both teams with each committing sixteen turnovers throughout the game. However, it was Dallas' ability to capitalize on these turnovers that made a difference – scoring eight points off turnovers compared to nineteen by Washington.

One key factor in this game for Dallas was their free throw performance where they made seventeen out of twenty-six attempts which translated into a free throw percentage of sixty-five percent - crucial points that helped seal their victory.


As both teams fought hard until the end, lead changes occurred eighteen times and scores were tied on twelve occasions reflecting how closely matched this encounter truly was.
