Can the Mavericks' Home Court Magic Outshine the Suns' Efforts?

The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns both entered the game with identical records of 33-23, but it was the Mavericks who emerged victorious with a final score of 123-113. The game, held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, saw both teams put on an impressive offensive display.

The Mavericks showcased their scoring ability right from tip-off, ending the first quarter just one point shy of the Suns. However, they picked up momentum as they outscored their opponents in each subsequent quarter. The home team's efficiency was evident as they finished with a higher overall efficiency rating of 136 compared to 115 for Phoenix.


Dallas capitalized on turnovers, scoring 29 points off Phoenix's mistakes while only giving up 13 points from their own turnovers. Their ball movement was superior as well; they tallied 24 assists to Phoenix's 20 and had a better assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.4 against Phoenix's 1.25.

Defensively, Dallas also edged out Phoenix by notching five blocks and ten steals which contributed to their ten-point advantage in plus-minus over the Suns. They were particularly effective from beyond the arc where they made nineteen three-pointers at a success rate of forty-three percent.


The bench played an integral role in this victory by contributing twenty-seven points to Dallas’s total score. Additionally, second-chance opportunities were seized upon by both teams equally well; each scored eighteen second-chance points.

On offense for Phoenix, field goal percentage stood at forty-eight percent with forty field goals made out of eighty-three attempts while free throw accuracy was seventy-five percent with eighteen free throws made from twenty-four attempts.
