The Mavericks' journey through the post-season has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Their last game against the Thunder showcased a resilient team that managed to edge out a victory with a score of 105-101. This win was characterized by Dallas's ability to dominate in key areas of the game, particularly in points scored within the paint where they tallied an impressive 52 points compared to Oklahoma City's 38. This inside dominance is something they'll look to replicate.

However, it wasn't just their offensive prowess that stood out; defensively, they managed only two blocks but compensated with seven steals and an overall defensive rating that slightly edged out Oklahoma City's effort. The rebounding battle was decisively won by Dallas as well, pulling down 60 rebounds over OKC's 48. These statistics underscore a gritty performance that ultimately led them past OKC despite being tied eight times and experiencing fourteen lead changes throughout the contest.

On offense, Dallas showed versatility and depth. While their three-point shooting hovered around 33 percent - mirroring OKC’s performance from beyond the arc - it was their relentless attack towards the rim that paid dividends. Moreover, bench contributions were nearly neck-and-neck between both teams but highlighted Dallas’s ability to draw upon its roster for impactful performances when needed most.

Looking ahead at this upcoming game against Oklahoma City Thunder, there are several factors at play suggesting why fans should lean towards optimism for another Mavericks victory. Firstly, playing at home provides an undeniable boost; historically speaking, teams tend to perform better on familiar ground due largely in part to fan support which can be pivotal during close games.

Secondly, if past games are any indication of future performance – specifically looking at how both teams have fared against each other recently – then it’s clear Dallas has found effective strategies against OKC’s defense especially when attacking inside.

However, one cannot overlook Oklahoma City Thunder's resilience and capacity for strategic adjustments mid-game which makes them formidable opponents under any circumstances. Their ability to block shots (11 blocks in one of their previous encounters) coupled with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading charges could pose significant challenges for DAL if not adequately prepared.

In conclusion, while acknowledging OKC’s strengths and potential threats they pose; given DAL’s current momentum coupled with strategic advantages gleaned from recent matchups suggests we might witness another thrilling victory for Dallas Mavericks come May 18th at American Airlines Center starting from 7:30 PM local time on ESPN.
