In their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on May 19, the Mavericks secured a narrow victory with a score of 117-116. This win highlighted their offensive versatility and ability to perform under pressure. The Mavs shot an impressive 51 percent from the field and an even more remarkable 47 percent from beyond the arc. Their ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities was evident as they scored 27 points from such situations, showcasing their tenacity on both ends of the court.

The key for Dallas lies in maintaining this offensive efficiency while tightening up defensively. In previous matchups against Minnesota, such as their game on May 25 where they edged out a win by just one point (109-108), it was clear that defensive lapses could easily turn into vulnerabilities. The Mavs allowed Minnesota to shoot at will in certain stretches, which nearly cost them the game despite leading for significant portions.

Minnesota Timberwolves have proven themselves formidable opponents throughout this season. With a record of 56 wins and only 26 losses, they are not a team that can be taken lightly. Their performance in recent games has been consistent; however, there are cracks that Dallas can exploit. For instance, during their last encounter with DAL on May 23 where MIN lost by three points (105-108), it was evident that when pressured defensively, MIN struggled with turnovers—committing nine compared to DAL's ten.

Dallas must focus on exploiting these weaknesses by applying relentless defensive pressure early in the game while maintaining disciplined rotations to limit open looks for MIN’s sharpshooters. Additionally, controlling rebounds will be crucial; DAL grabbed an impressive total of fifty-four rebounds against OKC compared to OKC's forty-five—a stat line they need replicating against MIN’s strong frontcourt presence.
