Defensively, Dallas had difficulties containing Boston's offense which was evident in their defensive rating of over one hundred thirteen per possession compared to Boston's ninety-five per possession on defense. This discrepancy was further highlighted by Boston’s ability to capitalize on turnovers with eighteen points off turnovers compared to Dallas’s thirteen.

The rebounding battle also leaned heavily in favor of Boston who collected fifty-five rebounds over Dallas’s fifty. Additionally, despite equal opportunities drawn from fouls at sixteen each and similar numbers in total turnovers with eleven for Dallas and fourteen for Boston; it was clear that execution played a pivotal role in determining this game's outcome.
