Can the Detroit Pistons Upset the Boston Celtics at TD Garden?

The Detroit Pistons are gearing up for a challenging encounter against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden, and fans are rightfully anxious about their team's prospects. The Pistons, with a disheartening record of 3 wins and 35 losses, face an uphill battle against one of the Eastern Conference's powerhouses.

In their last game on December 27th against the Brooklyn Nets, DET showed flashes of brilliance but ultimately fell short, losing 112-118. Despite leading for nearly 19 minutes and boasting a significant rebounding advantage with 62 total rebounds to BKN's 54, turnovers proved costly for DET. They committed an unsettling total of 14 turnovers which translated into points for BKN. The silver lining was found in their fast break performance where they scored an impressive 24 points off fast breaks.

However, it wasn't just about what happened on offense; defensively there were issues as well. With only four blocks compared to BKN’s seven and allowing BKN to shoot at a field goal percentage of fifty percent from the floor indicates that defensive adjustments are necessary if they hope to contain teams like Boston.

Looking back further to December 24th when DET faced off against BKN again but this time away from home, they managed to score more points with a tally of 115 but still lost by eleven points due in part to their inability to slow down BKN’s offense which put up an imposing total of 126 points.

One positive takeaway is that DET has demonstrated some offensive firepower themselves; scoring over one hundred points in both games suggests that when things click they can keep pace with high-scoring opponents. Their three-point shooting hovered around thirty-six percent across these games which is respectable but may not be enough against a team like Boston who boasts robust perimeter defense.

The upcoming game on December 28th will test whether DET can leverage its strengths while shoring up its weaknesses. Fans should look out for how well DET manages ball security and whether they can disrupt Boston’s rhythm on both ends of the court.

For those loyal supporters eager or apprehensive about witnessing this David versus Goliath matchup unfold – you can catch all the action live from TD Garden at NBA TV (channel:216), NBCS-BOS (channel:630) if you're rooting for home ground advantage or BSDET (channel:663) if you're cheering from afar – tip-off is scheduled for sharp at half-past seven in the evening local time.
