At the Footprint Center in Phoenix, the Detroit Pistons put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short against the Suns. The game was closely contested with eight lead changes and was tied eleven times, indicating how competitive it was from start to finish. The Pistons led for over thirteen minutes and had their largest lead at six points during the match.

The Pistons' offense saw them scoring fifty points in the paint out of ninety-two field goal attempts with an overall shooting percentage of forty-two percent. They were particularly effective from the free-throw line, making fifteen out of sixteen shots which translates to an impressive ninety-four percent accuracy rate. From beyond the arc, they made nine out of twenty-six attempts which is thirty-five percent shooting.

On defense, Detroit managed to block three shots and steal six times from their opponents. However, they struggled with turnovers giving up nineteen compared to thirteen by Phoenix. Despite this setback, they showed resilience on rebounds grabbing fifty-four in total; nineteen offensive and thirty defensive boards contributed significantly to keeping them in contention throughout.

The bench played a crucial role for Detroit contributing thirty-eight points towards their total scoreline. This depth could be seen as a positive takeaway despite not securing victory on this occasion.
