Detroit Pistons Narrowly Outscored at Smoothie King Center by New Orleans Pelicans

In a closely contested game at the Smoothie King Center, the Detroit Pistons fell short against the New Orleans Pelicans with a final score of 107-101. The Pistons now stand with an overall record of 1-2, while the Pelicans improved to 2-1.

The Detroit Pistons showed resilience throughout the match, leading for over ten minutes and achieving their biggest lead of eleven points. Despite this effort, it was not enough to secure victory. The team's scoring was consistent across all four quarters, contributing 25, 26, 27 and 23 points respectively in each period.


The Pistons' offensive efforts were led by their free throw accuracy which stood at an impressive eighty percent. They also demonstrated strength from beyond the arc with fourteen three-pointers made out of forty-nine attempts. On two-point attempts, they shot forty-seven percent making seventeen out of thirty-six shots.

Defensively, Detroit managed to block five shots and steal three times from their opponents. However, they struggled with turnovers having twenty-one in total which translated into eighteen points for the Pelicans. The team also drew twenty-four fouls but had two players foul out during the game.


On the rebounding front, Detroit secured fifty-eight rebounds including nine offensive boards which contributed to seventeen second-chance points thanks to a seventy percent conversion rate on second-chance attempts.

For New Orleans Pelicans fans who witnessed their team's performance at home will note that they had ten steals and blocked five shots as well as drawing thirty-one fouls from their opponents. Their bench played a significant role by contributing fifty-five points to their total score.


The home team managed sixty rebounds with ten being on offense and dominated inside scoring fifty-eight paint points compared to twenty-eight by Detroit. Their field goal percentage stood at forty-five percent while converting thirty-three percent of three-pointers attempted.


As for upcoming games for loyal fans of the Detroit Pistons looking forward to supporting their team can mark their calendars for October eleven when they face off against Oklahoma City Thunder at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
