Their largest lead stretched to 19 points as they controlled the pace and flow throughout most of the contest. The Pistons' offensive efforts were highlighted by their ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 20 points off their opponent's mistakes.

The team's efficiency on offense was evident as they shot 42 percent from the field and an impressive 80 percent from the free-throw line. Defensively, Detroit was just as formidable. They limited Washington to only two fast-break points while themselves converting fast breaks at a rate of 43 percent for nine total fast-break points. The defensive unit for Detroit proved its mettle by holding Washington to an offensive rating below their own and maintaining a lower defensive rating than that posted by their opponents.

Rebounding played a crucial role in this matchup; with total rebounds tallying up to an impressive count of 54 for Detroit compared to Washington's slightly higher total rebound count. However, it was not just about quantity but also about quality – with key offensive rebounds leading to eight second-chance points which helped keep momentum on Detroit's side.
