In their last encounter with the Grizzlies, the Pistons narrowly lost by just two points. They demonstrated an ability to lead for significant portions of the game and showcased an impressive 57 percent shooting from inside the arc. However, turnovers proved costly as they gave up 19 points from these mistakes.

The previous game against another opponent saw a better outcome for Detroit, with a nine-point victory margin that highlighted their potential when executing effectively on both ends of the court.
