The Detroit Pistons started off with energy in the first quarter scoring 23 points but were unable to sustain this momentum, trailing behind in each subsequent quarter. Despite their efforts, they could not close the gap that had been created early on. The Pistons' performance was highlighted by their bench contributing a significant 35 points to their total score. However, this was overshadowed by turnovers which amounted to 14 for the game and proved costly against a Spurs team that capitalized on these opportunities.

The offensive efforts from Detroit were led by scoring within paint where they made 23 out of 47 attempts resulting in a paint point percentage just shy of fifty percent. Their second-chance points stood out as well with an impressive conversion rate leading to 22 points from such opportunities. Yet, these efforts did not translate into leading time or overall efficiency as they only led for just over four minutes and posted an efficiency rating of ninety-two.

On defense, Detroit managed seven steals and three blocks but struggled overall allowing San Antonio to post an effective field goal percentage of sixty-two percent while also giving up sixty-four paint points. The defensive rating for Detroit reflected these challenges standing at over one hundred twenty-four which indicated room for improvement on that end of the floor.

The home team San Antonio Spurs showcased strong teamwork with thirty-three assists contributing greatly towards their victory margin. They dominated fast break situations scoring twenty-six fast break points from ten successful attempts reflecting seventy-seven percent effectiveness in such scenarios. Their bench depth was evident too as they added forty-nine bench points compared to thirty-five from Detroit's reserves.
