In a closely contested battle at Barclays Center, the Rockets displayed resilience but ultimately fell short against the Nets. Despite trailing for most of the game and never taking the lead, Houston managed to keep within striking distance until the final buzzer. The Rockets' scoring was consistent after a slow start in the first quarter with just 15 points; they improved as time went on, adding 25 points in the second quarter and peaking at 34 points in their final period effort.

Houston's offensive output was spearheaded by their ability to draw fouls and capitalize on free throws where they excelled with an impressive 87 percent accuracy. They also dominated inside, scoring 52 points in paint from both attempted (55) and made (26) shots within that area. However, their field goal percentage overall stood at just 39 percent despite attempting a total of 94 shots.

On defense, Houston managed to block three shots and steal possession six times from their opponents. They were particularly effective on defensive rebounds where they collected a total of 40 boards compared to Brooklyn's offensive rebounds which were limited to two.

The bench contributed significantly for Houston as well; providing much-needed depth by chipping in with an additional 36 points. Turnovers were an issue though; as they gave up possession on seventeen occasions which led directly to twenty-one points for Brooklyn.
