Heat's Persistence Melts Hawks in Double Overtime: Miami Prevails 117-111

The Miami Heat, with a record of 44-35, emerged victorious over the Atlanta Hawks, who now stand at 36-43, after a grueling double overtime battle that ended with a score of 117-111. The Heat demonstrated resilience and strategic execution throughout the game.

The contest was held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, where 17,049 spectators witnessed an intense matchup that saw the game tied 11 times and lead changes on 12 occasions. The Heat led for a significant portion of the match – exactly for 43 minutes and 24 seconds – showcasing their ability to control the pace against the Hawks. Miami's largest advantage during play was a notable fifteen-point lead.


Miami's offensive efforts were highlighted by their impressive field goal percentage of forty-eight percent from an eighty-eight attempt range. Their three-point shooting also made an impact with eighteen successful shots out of forty-five attempts resulting in forty percent accuracy from beyond the arc. Additionally, they capitalized on fast break opportunities scoring ten points with sixty-seven percent efficiency.

Defensively, Miami managed to block three shots while securing eight steals which contributed to their defensive prowess. They dominated rebounds as well with fifty-four total rebounds; forty-one being defensive and five offensive rebounds contributing to second-chance opportunities despite only converting two second-chance points.


The Hawks put up a strong fight particularly in paint where they scored fifty points but ultimately fell short. Their bench outscored Miami’s reserves by three points but it wasn't enough to secure victory.
