Milwaukee Bucks vs Utah Jazz: turnovers and paint points swung the quarters at Delta Center

The Milwaukee Bucks entered Delta Center at 28-41 and left with a 128-96 loss to the the Utah Jazz, who moved to 21-49. The Jazz led for 44:21 and turned 34 assists into 128-96 control as the Bucks finished with 20 assists and 20 turnovers.

First quarter


The Milwaukee Bucks opened with 19 points while the the Utah Jazz posted 30 points to take the early edge on 54 percent shooting for the night. The Bucks hit 15 three-pointers at 34 percent, but the Jazz answered with 18 threes at 38 percent to set the spacing tone. The Bucks generated 14 fast-break points on 62 percent conversion, yet the Jazz pushed to 26 fast-break points on 69 percent to widen the gap.


Second quarter


The Milwaukee Bucks added 25 points in the second quarter as the Jazz dropped 34 points behind a game high 34 assists that kept the ball moving through the halfcourt. Milwaukee’s 20 turnovers fed Utah’s 28 points off turnovers, a swing that framed what went wrong for Milwaukee Bucks as the lead grew. The Bucks got 54 bench points compared with Utah’s 26, but the Jazz controlled the glass 58-41 and used 12 offensive boards to create 19 second-chance points.


Third quarter


The Milwaukee Bucks put up 29 points in the third quarter, with Ryan Rollins producing 15 points and 5 assists in his previous-game line as a steady creator. Cam Thomas posted 14 points and 4 assists in that previous-game box score, and those playmaking numbers matched Milwaukee’s need to cut into a deficit that once reached 37. Myles Turner logged 4 turnovers in his previous-game stat line, and Milwaukee’s ball security remained a defining stat as the Jazz kept converting extra possessions into points in the paint.


Fourth quarter


The Milwaukee Bucks scored 23 points in the fourth quarter while the the Utah Jazz finished with 34 points and 48 paint points to close the door. Milwaukee’s interior output landed at 30 paint points and 6 second-chance points, and Utah’s 77 percent finishing in the paint reflected the separation on the rim.
