The Timberwolves opened aggressively, putting up 32 points in the first quarter and establishing an early dominance. However, momentum shifted as they struggled in the second quarter with only 17 points against the Knicks' formidable defense. The team's resilience shone through after halftime as they rallied to add another 29 points to their tally in the third quarter and finished strong with 28 points in the last period.

Key players for Minnesota made significant contributions; however, it wasn't enough to secure victory. The team's field goal percentage stood at a solid 47 percent with successful execution from both inside and outside the arc. From downtown, they managed an impressive shooting performance hitting 39 percent of their three-point attempts.

On defense, Minnesota fought hard but faced challenges containing New York's offense which managed to score slightly above them throughout most possessions. The Timberwolves gathered a total of six steals and blocked four shots over four quarters but couldn't maintain their biggest lead which was capped at eleven points.

Offensively speaking for Minnesota was their paint presence where they scored half of their total points demonstrating aggressive play under the basket. Their bench also contributed significantly adding nineteen important points to their overall score.

Despite these efforts by Minnesota players on both ends of court including fast breaks where they converted four out six attempts into eleven fast break points - it wasn't sufficient against New York’s strategy that led them trailing for just under eleven minutes during game time while leading substantially for over thirty-five minutes.
