Minnesota Timberwolves Edge Out New Orleans Pelicans at Target Center

The Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans both entered the game with identical season records of 42-40. In a closely contested match at the Target Center, it was the home team, the Timberwolves, who emerged victorious with a final score of 113-108.

The game started off with the Pelicans taking an early lead, scoring 30 points in the first quarter compared to just 18 by the Timberwolves. However, as play progressed, Minnesota began to find their rhythm. The second quarter saw them outscore New Orleans by four points, bringing some momentum into halftime.


In an impressive third-quarter performance, Minnesota racked up 36 points while holding their opponents to 30. This surge allowed them to take control of the game and set up a nail-biting final period. The fourth quarter remained competitive with both teams battling hard on court; however, it was Minnesota's ability to maintain their lead that ultimately secured their win.


Key players for Minnesota included those who contributed significantly from beyond the arc and in paint scoring. The team made an impressive 13 three-pointers out of 36 attempts (36 percent) and were highly efficient inside as well, making 24 out of 40 attempts (60 percent) for points in paint. Bench contributions were also substantial for Minnesota with bench players adding a total of 38 points to their tally.


Defensively speaking, Minnesota managed eight blocks over New Orleans' three and recorded seven steals during this encounter. Their defensive efforts translated into limiting New Orleans' shooting percentage; despite allowing them a field goal percentage of about 44 percent overall.


On offense for New Orleans Pelicans', they struggled from three-point range but excelled at free throws where they made about 86 percent from the line (25 out of 29). They also dominated inside scoring a significant number of points in paint (56), which kept them within striking distance throughout most parts of this contest.
